New Arrangement

Well, here it is! Now they can sleep in the same bed ;)
I don't plan on setting up the top bunk for a long time... but it worked successfully, in that Oliver and Trenton slept in the same bed, did not squish each other, and did not wake up until 7AM!
We will see if we can keep them from bouncing on the new mattress...

Like Two Peas In a Pod

Jim took this picture of the two of us this morning. Notice how we both have our arms up over our heads.
I always sleep that way for at least part of the night.
Ollie hasn't really liked sleeping alone since we converted his crib into a bed. He falls asleep in T's bed at night, and for naptime. Before I go to bed, I always put him back in his own bed, so that T can have room to roll around during the night. But this means that most nights Oliver will wake up, upset with being alone, and shout out until he wakes me (or everyone) up.
So he usually ends up in bed between Jim and I, as he did at 5:15 this morning.
Jim flashed us with the camera around 7:52. I don't remember the last time I slept until then.

What do you all think of this idea? They call it a "twin over full" bunk bed. I wonder if we could just set up the full part... so that both boys can continue to sleep together. And when Oliver is big enough/responsible enough to handle sleeping in a bunk bed (I fear he'd climb up the ladder when I'm not looking), then we'll add the top part. I like the idea of doing bunk beds with them, but I'm not sure if both can fit on a twin mattress. Hm. We could also convert Ollie's toddler bed into a twin bed, and then wait it out until bunk-bed age comes.  Wonder if that is enough room for the two of them...

Oliver Tells a Story

Oliver Tells a Story from Sheryl K. on Vimeo.

Something about a gorilla, a fox, and Wii...
He had been saying the cutest story about the 3 little pigs, but refused to retell it for me on camera :(
And then it dissolves into a wooden spoon fight.
Boys.

Sunday In Manasquan... In December ;)))

Sixty degrees. In December. On a Sunday.
After Sunday School and church, I rushed the kids home and fed them lunch.
Then made the decision to hit the beach.
Little man rode his bike 8/10 of a mile down the beach walk. He's getting better... the training wheels are rather squeaky, but if he hits the right balance, he can really fly.
Oliver slept in his stroller while I jogged to keep up with T.
What a reward for his long ride! Watching the boats come in the inlet is always a calming time that I love sharing with the boys. Below, Trenton struck up a conversation with this boy, who was fishing with an eel for bait.

When Ollie woke up, he was a little crabby.
Told me he wanted to go back to sleep again. I laid out the blanket and we watched the surfers together.

There were at least 40 of them. All in wet suits. Both boys were upset that we did not own wet suits.
Lots of fishermen on the rocks, too.

And then we rode back to the other end and hung out at the playground until the sun began to set.
Surf Taco dinner rounds the whole trip out. T's mesmerized by Harry Potter (playing on the TV). Ollie wants to know if he can bring his chips home to eat in the car.

A nice end to fall, indeed.
