Oliver Reads

Trenton read this book aloud for him...and then Ollie read it to me. I was so impressed, I told him he had to do it again for the blog!

 Look at the growth in our box garden! Insane! We were gone for three days, and the neighbor watered it for us... we came home, and it was like a totally different garden!
I have a feeling that I've over-planted...

Summertime With the Konopacks

 Jim's parents are in town for a few weeks... so we went up to their place to spend Memorial Day weekend with them! We played at the local school's playground on Sunday morning.

 Absolutely lovely berries. Juicy & easy to pick. The boys loved it!

 Capping it off with more baseball in the front yard... delicious watermelon... and fantastic cooking by Grandma! We had an awesome visit! Welcome, Summer!!!

Space Farm and Museum

 This weekend, we met up with Kim, Bobby, and Ben at Space Farms Zoo & Museum waaay up in Sussex, NJ. Although the stated intention of the trip was to explore the huge zoo and museums, I was really there to hold & kiss the heck out of new baby Ben ;) (Which I did do quite a but, but have no pictures of him to prove it!)

 Jim caught this awesome frog!

 They had lots of outdoor play equipment... much of it reminded me of the same things I used to play on as a kid. There were all kinds of animals -- birds, tigers, farm animals, monkeys, bears... And the museums housed a lot of old, local historical things: farming equipment, toys, bikes, automobiles... I really wish we had more time to see it all.

 I thought this sign said it all. I look forward to the day when we can hike the App. Trail together as a family!

 Oliver was very, very excited that there were tigers there. He had made a tiger earlier that day, complete with green dots ("specks, Daddy, like on your face").

 An awesome Mexican lunch at Riviera Maya! The boys had vegetarian burritos and ate most of 'em. ;)

 And as we drove out to Holland Twp., we did some rainbow chasing! At one point, there were two bands, although it did not show up like that in these pictures.

Field Day 2012

Woo Hoo for Field Day 2012!

Although it was overcast, it did not rain... but it sure was humid! Trenton and his 19-student class had a BLAST for about an hour last Thursday afternoon doing all kinds of Field Day activities.

 Above, Mrs. Halperin gives them all a pep-talk about how to properly use the MASSIVE BLOW-UP OBSTACLE COURSE.

We left after about an hour, so that Oliver could still get a nap... it was so darn hot! The teachers ended the afternoon with a sponge-toss.

It was really nice that Jim could come, too! 

Field Day at T's school was very different that Field Day at my elementary school when I was a kid. Most of the classes moved through stations, with little competition... there were several blow-up structures, food for the kids, and even a deejay! The kids had a blast. Many thanks to the PTO for putting it all together!
