Trenton's March

Kid got a new baseball glove! Just a wee bit larger than the old one, but not as big as a man's.

We took a trip to a friend's school, where the chicks have hatched! Keep them on the paper, as they get nervous and make a mess...

"I know you are looking at me... And now I'm looking at you!"

Cool stuff he made at school. I think I'm done with scanning... now will take a picture and post that way, so long as quality is good.
Anyway, look at how altruistic he is! And kinda pessimistic about a long life! Das my boy!
And here he is as a Thing!

I realized that Tin Tin is such an incredible part of his life, and if I don't blog about it, I might be missing out on something. Above are the five volumes that we own. And read. Every day.

And check out these Goals!

Oliver's March

Getting far behind here! Sorry for that!
I've decided to devote this post to just Oliver. And what he's been up to ;)
Ollie's good buddy Tyler came over for a playdate and lunch. They love their Happy Meals.

Every day, while Trenton does his homework for an hour, I challenge Oliver to do certain creative tasks. Above, he re-creates all ten digits using straws.

This season, Oliver is playing T-ball on the Orioles. He's got Alex, Justin, Mikey, Mason, Brendan, and a few other friends on his team.

Making funny faces with Mom. Without a flash.

Here he is making chocolate creations at a birthday party.
We still haven't eaten the entire dinosaur...

And park playdate days are finally here! On the left, that's Gracie, and on the right, he's with Justin and Alex. All in all, he seems to be enjoying his last year of preschool and hanging out with his buddies.

Burke/DC Trip, March 2014

Tell me how cute these kids are. Seriously!
We went out for Mexican. Most kids got hot dogs, hamburgers, and breakfast stuff. But the adults had some great ethnic food! Woo hoo for finding a place where ten people can get what they want to eat!

The highlight of the VA trip: Checking out the Bluesteen's new house! The kids had a great time playing baseball outside, and Nerf gun fighting, and soccer, and bike riding...

Inside, Justin and Oliver play cards... And Trenton and Ethan play BayBlades in the basement.

And then look at THIS surprise!
The plan was to have dinner with the Klases on the way back home... but we were sooo lucky that Alary decided to make her appearance that weekend!
Too cute. Breech babygirl decided she wanted to come out C-section side... with a perfect head. And look at those lips!
Great news-- Klases are moving to Philly! So we'll have a lot more pics of Alary and her sister, Nora, for sure ;)

March, You Are Such a Tease...

Holycow it was like, 60 degrees this week. And not too windy. And the sun was out.
Phenomenal.
After gymnastics, we played at the park in Manasquan with a friend. Then Ollie says, "But Momma, I can SMELL the beach from here!" So of course we HAD to go.
There is a lot more sand here than there was last summer... the beach is vast. I'm betting that the replenishment project is complete. And there is a more extensive playground for the kids.

At Science Club this week, Justin, Oliver, and Jackson experimented with dyes. They took the coloring off of some candies and then added it to coffee filter papers (along with some marker-dye). After dipping the bottom half of the paper in a salt-water solution, they watched as it was absorbed and the dye colors ran... and separated. Very interesting.

Getting some much-needed outdoor playtime with his buddy, Tyler

And this is how they chose to spend their final few minutes before bedtime: playing Tinkertoys.
Oliver had built two towers of differing sizes... T made some kind of Star-Wars inspired hover craft.
PS: It is now 20 degrees, with a 50 MPH wind chill of FOUR.

Dr. Seuss Week, 2014

This week, Trenton's teacher had all kinds of activities planned for the kids in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday.
He brought in about 20 copies of his favorite Seuss books on Monday. By Thursday, they were ready to make Ooblek in class! Some corn starch, water and food coloring... and next thing you know, the kids have this incredibly liquid/solid state of matter that you can actually FLING across the classroom!

On Friday, the kids were asked to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. So, yup, we HAD to do Thing 1 and Thing 2 with Harrison ;)
