Interactive Read-Alouds
I encourage you to check out a blog that I created as part of my Educational Literacy Theory course this semester. I chose to research and explain Interactive Read-Alouds to parents of preschoolers and toddlers in my blog.
You can find the site here: www.interactivereadalouds.blogspot.com
I really enjoyed creating it-- especially filming myself and the boys as we read together.
I hope it can help some of you parents create a richer reading experience at home with your children.

Veterans' Day, 2010
But doing it in person is much, much better!
Today we went to the Harley Davidson dealership in Long Branch to check out the bikes, bikers, and veterans before they headed off in style for the somber service at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. You may remember me posting about taking Oliver to the service when he was just a week or so old... I decided that the atmosphere was too reverent (read: quiet) to take the kids there this year. But it is disappointing to research for local commemorative events in your area and find close to NONE.
Lotsa flags, lotsa leather. Nice people taking time out of their day to show support for their friends.
We left after Trenton started complaining, "Mom, these soldiers smoke too much!"

Oliver's Second Birthday
Had to devote a whole post to his birthday festivities, as I otherwise risk getting it all mixed up in the Halloween festivities...
Ollie's big gift from us was a Spiderman Sit and Spin. Sweet ride solo or with your bro!
Below, SpiderGrandma and Wig Borrowing PopPop Lacina with Iron Man and Monkey.
Mind you, this was the third time in three days he had a cake featuring The Wiggles...
Uncle Len and Ollie.
Pictures of Ollie in his MU shirt-- an annual tradition (full disclosure: this was taken on 3/2!)
Halloweekend, 2010
Who you lookin' at, Praying Mantis?
Iron Man was a bit chilly in just his undies and costume. But he braved the cold. And kept the mask on the whole time.
On Friday morning, I had a small party for Oliver and his playgroup friends.
Seated on the couch are Alexander, Julian, Oliver, Isabella, and Jackson. It was no easy task to get this picture!

On Saturday, the Bluesteens came up for a short visit. The boys played Pin the Tail on the Donkey and we each had a cupcake (with the mistake-purple icing) with a Wiggle on top.
I took Trenton back out again after dinner with his buddy Christian. It's tradition. We'll have to keep it going next year if we move...
The chips he got at this house were his favorite treat of the night.
