Beachin' It With Cousins

My long-lost Mid-western cousin came home for a visit! Above you see Oliver, Frankie, Mikey, Nicholas, Anthony, and Trenton. When I was a kid, it was myself, Stacey, Robyn, and Jennifer who were the older girl cousins... and now we all have two (or more!) boys... Crazy!



Mikey looks a lot like his father's side of the family. Frankie, below, is getting big fast! It was the first trip to the beach for both of them. We're lucky we got great weather!

Jimbo's 32nd Birthday

Happy Birthday, Daddy!
Jim ran a race in MA for his birthday this year... so we celebrated a few days later ;) Above, the boys wait to dig into a lemon meringue pie (Jim's choice... effectively ensuring that I wouldn't eat more than one slice, as I hate lemon pies).


These are some random pics from the weekend of his birthday. The kids were at my parents' house and we had friends down for a day & night at the beach. Got to see The Nerds at The Headliner, followed by pizza at Pete and Elda's... very nice time ;) If you've never seen The Nerds perform, here's a good place to start.

Ahhh... and what a nice ending to the day.

Visit to Great Grandma's House

We had a very nice visit with Jim's maternal grandmother this month. The boys painted for her out on her patio while we listened to her talk.

She enjoys company. We got to see some birds out on the feeders while we sat quietly on the deck.


Inside, Grandma wanted us to look around the house and stake claim to any items that we might want for ourselves. She generously let us take a beautiful lead and glass lamp (need to get a picture of it up soon) as well as some side tables. Above, the boys play with some puzzles that have been in her possession for decades. I also took several board games for both the kids and adults to play.

Point... with Fireworks!

We stayed late... fireworks at dusk. Saw a crab waaay in the dry part of the sand... hope he made it back to sea... T's first time on the rock wall- not bad! Everyone had a great time ;)

Q T Pie

Look at that little guy!
Kim's son Bobby is absolutely adorable. We went for a visit the other weekend. Their home in PA is very welcoming & the area is lush-green with trees. Also, good places to eat in the downtown.
The boys talked about visiting "baby Bobby" for days afterwards ;) They also loved his (real!) bunny.

Here's T as he attempts to make giant bubbles with some home-made solution, and a bubble wand crafted out of a hanger and string. It was frustrating and didn't turn out exactly the way he'd expected. But a learning process, all the same.

Explanation

I don't often like to stay up past 10 PM. Ask anyone who has tried to hang out with me after that time. I'd much rather be in bed. More of a morning person than a night owl.

With that being said, I've been pulling late-nighters now for a few weeks. This six week class is overwhelming with the work load. Add on top of that a new position for the church's nursery school (yep, I'm the board chair), a week-long illness, and general summer events.

And then the cord was lost. And then the Freecycler sent me one! And then the computer had reached capacity-- and wouldn't take any pics from the camera and put them on the C drive.

Sooooo....
With limited time to spend on this, I give you pictures from Jim's phone.

Tonight was National Night Out. Jim took the kids out while I went to class and a meeting.

They met up with Harrison and Jon at Chick Fil A, after spending hours in the bounce house.
It is a darn good thing I have an incredibly supportive husband. He never gripes about taking over with the kids when I'm up to my eyeballs with class work.

I think I'm going to dedicate this degree to him. ;)

I promise, after August 11th (or any night when my brain turns to mush and I can't produce anything worthy for class), I'll get around to blogging the rest of July...
