Evening In Asbury

On this warm afternoon, we took at trip to AP to enjoy the CityArts Weekend. There were lots of people on the boardwalk trying to squeeze in one last weekend down the shore. We even saw a wedding take place on the beach.
The boys get a kick out of going on these old-school rides outside the new Silver Ball Pinball arcade/museum.

We watched as this boardwalk waterpark was built and completed last spring. Unfortunately, it is so expensive and we've never gone. Until tonight! Free admission this weekend, celebrating the close of the facility.
Had we packed bathing suits? No. But that was a small oversight. Mommy always has an emergency set of clothes tucked away in the car...

And on to the Art Show part... we were able to visit Jim's colleague's presentation. It was an interactive audio/visual piece. We manipulated parts of a vacuum cleaner and old TV sets to change the sounds that came out of the computer and the images on the screen.

All of the rest of the exhibits and festivities were downtown, on Bangs and Cookman Ave... but we never made it there. Too close to dinner time!

Then to Surf Taco... "Don't touch my taco, lady"... "All done!"... one last chance at fuse ball...

And onto Strollo's for dessert. The combination we tried tonight was cherry Italian Ice and vanilla soft serve. It could perhaps be the best dessert we've ever had. Definitely the best in Monmouth County. Give me a survey! We'll vote!

T's Projects

Above, a lamb. I think he made it around Easter last year. I love the ear...

Tried to get this to turn, but unsuccessful. Nice lion, eh?

And here is the Butterfly Story. Written 4/24/10. Click on it to make it larger and read it.

Birthday Celebration Weekend

Last weekend we celebrated Grandma Konopack's 59th birthday with a trip to Allaire State Park's campground. There was lots of wiffle ball, playing, and laughter. And good food!
Dinner was at Fins. Lots of delicious gluten-free items for mom, great fish for all of us!

And then there was the FIRST BIRTHDAY of this little lady.
I traveled to Maryland to be with Nora at her party! She was absolutely adorable, toddling around and smiling for everyone. Cathy and Zak did a Sesame Street theme, complete with Big Bird cupcakes and a street sign cake.
We hope to see you lots more, Nora! Happy Birthday!

Trenton's First Day of Pre-K

Look at the confidence on his face. Such a big boy this year. Very eager to go back to school, to see his friends... Looking much more grown up with a new haircut ;)

AND the Silly Bandz. AND the tattoos...

Oliver just LOVES walking his brother into school and being there to pick him up, as well.

Think they're going to miss each other? They were best buddies, playing together all summer long.

See ya, Trenton! Have a great day at school!
***

I took Oliver to the Reservoir for a walk in the stroller. I haven't done that as much as I would like to... it is very hard to push that double jogger stroller around on the dirt trail. But Ollie LOVED it-- pointed out the birds and squirrels along the way. We walked over a mile to the Environmental Center, spent some time looking at the fish, turtles, and snakes there, and then walked back to the playground.

He didn't ask for his brother once.
I realized that it was the longest amount of time I'd spent with just Ollie in months.
We both loved it.
But we were both happy to go back to school and pick up T.
He had a great first day... singing "The Number Rock" over and over again, big smile on his face.
This year is going to be great!

Many, many thanks to my boys for giving me the BEST SUMMER EVER.
I love you.
