Oh What a Night...

 Every year in our town they have a big community day celebration. In the past, it has been during the day in the fall, but they've slowly moved it to the dead of the summer, and this year, decided to push it into the evening. But despite all of those efforts, it was STILL probably ninety degrees for the event.
I say BRING IT ON!
We parked in a local lot and piled into buses to get to the park. Oliver was clearly excited.

(We tried to stick to the rides in the shade.)

This was Trenton's favorite ride-- some kind of wrecking ball blow-up thingie. Oliver is in the foreground and Trenton is in the back. I think the object was to knock the other people over with the ball...

 Oliver's favorite was this 'Car Wash' thing. "Mom, it's a People Wash!"

 In the picture above, Ollie and I are riding on the train while Jim jogs alongside us. Of course little man found this to be hysterical ...

Trenton attached himself to this other kid with a bungee cord and tried to shoot as many baskets as he could. 

And THEN! Then came the part that Jim and I had been waiting for!

The Nerds! Woo hoo! Jersey's favorite cover band.

Pretty good seats. With ice cream. In the shade.
The kids had never seen them perform before, and didn't know many of their songs. But we all ended up dancing & singing along at some point.

We capped off the evening with a fantastic display of fireworks, observed from far enough away that Oliver wasn't too afraid of them. Very excited already to come back again next year!
