Blueclaws Opening Weekend, 2013

Dollar seats! Seven rows up behind home plate! Niiice!
The Asbury Park Press sponsored opening weekend for the Lakewood Blueclaws again this year... Everyone enjoyed one dollar seats for the game! We got these AWESOME scarves, as well, which came in handy as it was still in the high 40s for most of game time.

And guess what? It was Buster's birthday! Who knew mascots could have birthdays? Apparently, all of these other mascots.
I figured it would be a nightmare for Oliver. But he did OK. Even when Boomer (the Trenton Thunder mascot) got within two rows of us...

The Claws are strongly promoting the common refrain-- "Restore the Shore". Each player was outfitted with a special jersey that had the name of one of 50 different towns in Monmouth and Ocean counties (ours included). You could then bid on the worn jersey (or one that was new) and all donations would go to local Sandy-relief charities.

Hot dogs, cheeseburgers, Surf Taco grub, funnel cake, and lots of walking around... Beautiful day for a hopefully great season! The Blueclaws were all tied up, then scored to make it 3-2, and finally successfully beat off their opposition with an awesome save at the plate. Great game!
