Hi-yo! Here we are in front of the fountain in Logan Square in downtown Philadelphia.We took a nice day trip into the city, partially to remind our children that there are other cities out there (Trenton calls everything "New York")
Yeah, it was a scorcher. In the nineties, definitely.
Ah! But here's the real reason why we came! The chicks! And the butterflies!Translation: Dave and Tanya, old friends of ours from Illinois, were in town for a conference. They brought along their kids, Gabriella and Isaiah, and we hatched a plan to meet up at the Academy of Natural Sciences for the morning. Chose this one for a few reasons: 1) Relatively inexpensive 2) Butterfly exhibit 3) Outside-in exhibit and 4) DINOSAURS.
The butterfly room was COOL. Except it wasn't. They kept it at over 80 degrees with high humidity, so it was like walking back outside the museum again ;)Can you see the owl eyes on those two? Neat, right?
Here we are with the stroller brigade... Trenton has a dino claw on his head... some big fossils... the kids participated in a fake dig in a neat replica of an archeological dig site... powered a treadmill to run like a real dinosaur... checked out fish from above and below... looked at honeybees in their comb... and screamed at a rabbit. (that was just Ollie)
All in all, we had a fantastic day with our friends. It was great to see all of you guys!

how funny! when we were heading out of SI over the outerbridge, Libby said " everyone is from New York!" well, no really. lol. we will write this place down, we're talking of going to Philly sometime this summer.
