Washington DC Zoo

Trip time!
This time, Shairna and her family allowed us to drag 'em to the zoo!

With the weather in the 80s (and this was at 10:00 AM) it was nice to be able to cool off-- for free. The National Zoo has free admission and free watersprays for people like Jared, above, who want to cool off.

Trenton checks out the Pygmy Hippopotamus. This was actually his second trip to this zoo.
Below, the boys touch a real (ew) elephant tail.

Normally I don't publish blurry pictures, but Jim took the one above and it makes me smile.
We made it to the Elephant House in time to see them hose down the animals for their morning baths. Stinky, but fun to watch.

That's a lot of boys at one table... thanks, Shairna, for packing lunches!

Prairie Dawgs.

OK, now this is crazy/scary/neat-o. The orangutans like to hang out on these "transport systems" that they call the O-Line. They swing while holding onto the cables--- RIGHT OVER OUR HEADS. This one was holding some sort of frozen ice fruit treat... and it dripped all over the gawking visitors below.

Ethan is getting so big... here he shows off his balancing skills while we wait for the other guys to get back from seeing the invertebrates.

As we passed the Lincoln Memorial, there was a HUGE motorcycle rally going on in the surrounding park. I'd bet they do this every year for Memorial Day. There were motorcycles on every highway we drove on, all weekend long. Nice weather for it.

Ahhhh, naps feel so good after a long morning walking around in the sun.

We've been to the zoo!
It was one of the best I've been to.
Did you get to see any panda bears?
Our favorite was also hipo especially when they were feeding one of the full grown one!

Nice pictures! Impresses how much you guys travel!
